On 28 July, a new company is incorporated under the name “Compagnia Assicuratrice Directa S.p.A.” (with a capital of ITL 12 bln, 99% of which subscribed for by Unipol and the remaining 1% by Uniservice). In the month of November, ISVAP (insurance supervisory authority) is forwarded the application for permission to provide insurance coverage in some Non-Life businesses. The new company will operate through direct telephone sales of insurance products, especially in the Motor vehicle business.
