At the beginning of 1991, Unipol completes the process of automating agencies, covering over 97% of the premium portfolio. The missing percentage is represented by small-sized agencies, where the introduction of computer support will be made as soon as their portfolio reaches the minimum threshold. The implementation of this comprehensive mechanization of the agencies, together with that of the claims adjustment offices, leads to a further increase in the efficiency of business services to users.

From the technical point of view there are two types of agency automation: On-line with agencies being equipped with terminals directly connected to the headquarters computer in Bologna and DDP (Distributed Data Processing) and agencies equipped with personal computers that perform the work independently and transmit data at night through a value-added telephone network.
