The Foundation Cesar begins collaborating with Libera, Associazione Nomi e numeri contro le mafie (Association of names and numbers against the mafias). The association, founded and headed by Father Luigi Ciotti since March 1995, stands out for its ability, tenacity and seriousness in the fight against the mafias and the promotion of legality and justice. The recognition of the Foundation Cesar “The Key to Smiling” is dedicated, in 2001, to the issues of volunteering, in line with the UN International year. On the recommendation of member organizations, a special prize is awarded to the chairmanship of the Association of Unipol agents (AAU) for the initiatives of the agency network in favor of the flooded regions in 2000; the prize is awarded to Chairman Mario Orlandi.
