Unipol and Ogyre: together to protect the sea

In celebration of the holiday season, Unipol has decided to launch a new initiative with Ogyre, the first global “fishing for litter” platform on a mission to clean up the sea. Ogyre operates through local fishing communities in different countries, which recover waste from the sea during fishing activities, helping to protect marine diversity and combat climate change.

Unipol has made a concrete commitment to protect the sea, undertaking to collect 11,000 kg of marine waste over the next few months, the equivalent of 1kg for each Group colleague. And that’s not all: once collection begins in January, you will also have the chance to make a symbolic contribution to the collection effort by “purchasing” your kilo of waste and following the process all the way to completion.

Thanks to this project, we are making a contribution to Sustainable Development Goals 8 (Economic Development), 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and 13 (Climate Action) envisaged by the UN 2030 Agenda.

Ogyre’s partners also include Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli, with which Unipol recently entered into a prestigious partnership based on important key drivers that unite the Unipol Group and Team Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli: innovation and advanced technology, leadership and teamwork, high performance and sustainability. This closes a symbolic circle of partnership that will lead us to explore new routes together.
