Sustainable environment, health and society: discovering connections

In preparation for the 2020 Sustainable Development Festival, ASviS will hold three live streaming events in May and June to reflect on the crisis and foster a sustainable transformation.

Welcoming high-profile guests and representatives of youth organisations, the new streamed ASviS initiative - ASviS Live: three steps towards the Festival" - will drive the debate on the policies and actions required to strengthen the “transformative resilience” of the socioeconomic system and design the future on the basis of the 2030 Agenda, and will be promoted via the Alliance  channels and network in May and June.

In the period originally scheduled for the Sustainable Development Festival, which will now take place from 22 September to 8 October because of the Covid-19 emergency, ASviS will be holding three events, ideal preparation for the show, in collaboration with the partners of the 2020 Festival. The events will encourage interactive participation in order to drive the debate, also with the aim of identifying priority issues to analyse further during the Festival.

The three events will be streamed live at festivalsvilupposostenibile.it, asvis.it, on the Alliance  Facebook page and Youtube channel, and also at Ansa.it. It will also be possible to take part in the debate on the social media using the hashtags #versoilfestival and #ASviSlive.

The event will focus on the interaction between natural and anthropised environments and their respective vulnerabilities. Representatives of businesses and institutions will discuss overcoming the emergency with respect for environmental, social, economic and institutional sustainability criteria. To celebrate World Environment Day, the event will involve coverage from the Living Chapel, an installation set up in the Orto Botanico of Rome, place of reflection on the importance of protecting the environment, on the basis of the 2030 Agenda and the Encyclical of Pope Francis, Laudato Si’.
