Carlotta Gilli is an Italian swimmer and international paralympic champion in different stokes and distances.
Born in Turin on 13 January 2001, at the age of six she was diagnosed with Stargardt disease, a degenerative retinopathy that causes severe vision loss in both eyes. Thanks to her strength and determination, Carlotta was not discouraged and took up swimming. She became passionate about the sport and quickly started competing professionally. From 2013 to 2016, she achieved her first successes at various Italian Swimming Federation youth championships, then in 2017 she made her debut in the world of paralympic swimming.
This marked the beginning of a competitive career that now places her at the top of world paralympic swimming. Thanks to the numerous records achieved in both long course and short course, in 2023 Carlotta entered the "Guinness World Records" book.
