Alberto Burri Reloaded

The spaces of CUBO, the Unipol Group corporate museum, will be the venue for the important ALBERTO BURRI Reloaded exhibition in Bologna from 7 October 2022 to 21 January 2023 which, after a lengthy absence, will restore one of Alberto Burri’s most significant “Sacchi” works - Nero con punti from 1958 - to the public domain.

The exhibition will be held in collaboration with the prestigious Tornabuoni Arte gallery which will be lending four works by the Maestro that will dialogue with Nero con punti in CUBO’s two Bologna venues: Porta Europa (piazza Viera de Mello 3) and Torre Unipol (via Larga 8).

On display at Porta Europa will be Nero con punti, a large 1958 artwork owned by the Unipol Group which will be visible once again following a long restoration project carried out by Muriel Vervat in collaboration with the Institute of Heritage Science and the “Nello Carrara” Institute of Applied Physics, both part of the National Research Council (CNR) of Florence.

At the Unipol Group we are used to talking about protection. Which is mainly achieved through prevention. But also by applying innovative ideas. As a result, it was only natural for us to apply this knowledge to one of the most beautiful and valuable works in our art collection. – underlines Vittorio Verdone, Director of Communication and Media RelationsWe therefore took the decision to restore Nero con punti not only by applying a scientific method but also by taking an innovative technical approach (hence the name of the exhibition, Burri Reloaded). We involved the leading experts in this discipline in order to return this remarkable work to the public and carefully preserve it in our Museum”.
