On 30 March, the meeting in Bologna between Enea Mazzoli and Cinzio Zambelli with Jacques Vandier, president of greatest French mutual company, MACIF, is bound to have an important future. If, on the one hand, the Unipol managers seek a new partner for the Company, on the other, the president of the French mutual company is motivated by the need to find a partner for its development in Europe. MACIF, Mutuelle des Commerçants et des Industriels de France, established in 1960 and thus almost the same age as Unipol, is the first auto insurer in France with a market share of around 14%, and has never left its country.

This meeting will lead MACIF to acquire a major stake in FINSOE in 1990, while Unipol enters the shareholding structure of IMA (Intermutuelle Assistance).
