Gruppo Unipol joins forces with 3Bee for biodiversity

Following the partnerships with Treedom and Ogyre, this year Unipol has chosen 3Bee as its sustainability partner, a climate-tech start-up that puts technology at the service of environmental regeneration projects aimed at protecting pollinators and biodiversity.

This collaboration involves the activation of 5 Biodiversity Tech Oases located in the regions of the main Unipol offices. These Oases consist of:

  • Nectar-rich forests, made up of native species
  • Smart hives, equipped with a remote monitoring system

The 5 Unipol Tech Oases are complete in terms of biodiversity: they are home to 20 different native plant species which, once planted, are cared for by 3Bee's professional growers.

The new Unipol Oases serve several purposes: cleaning the air, nourishing pollinating insects, providing ecological niches for more than 200 thousand animal species, and draining rainwater. This last factor is especially important in Italy, given the recent floods that occurred in Emilia Romagna and Tuscany. Floods are in fact extreme phenomena caused by excessive urbanization and overbuilding, to the detriment of natural areas: the Oases offer a preventive solution to this problem.
