In 2012, a new activity is introduced to strengthen the long-lasting and solid relationship between the Unipol Group and Libera
– Association of names and numbers against the mafias. In fact, the first voluntary camp “E! State Liberi” takes place for the employees of the Unipol Group being produced by the Unipol Bologna employees’ club, with the contribution of the Company. In the week between 23 and 30 June, 12 employees and their companions give their support to the cooperatives of Isola di Capo Rizzuto and Cutrò, places where the land confiscated from the mafia clan Arena is located being assigned to the Cooperative Terre Joniche - Libera Terra.
Volunteers work directly on the confiscated land being subsidized with the proceeds of the Unipol campaign “One euro per policy and per current account” in the years 2010/11, and are hosted at Centro di Educazione alla Legalità e Ambiente (CELA, Center for education to legality and the environment) located in facilities confiscated from the ‘Ndrangheta (mafia of Calabria, TN) and assigned to WWF Crotone. During the experience, the colleagues meet with representatives of local institutions and associations that are fighting against the Mafia on the front line.
