“Good, really good chicken fricassee”. It was August ‘62 and in Vallombrosa six men sat around a beautifully set table rich with food. The main dish, chicken fricassee. They started eating and discussing. Despite the hot summer air and the holiday climate, that was a working lunch. And right there Unipol was being created. The host was Giulio Cerreti, president of the League of Cooperatives. And his guests were Oscar Gaeta, one of the major leaders of the League, Enzo Bentini and Franco Fornasari, Chairman and deputy Chairman of Federcoop Bologna, Giancarlo Ferri, regional secretary of the Emilia Romagna Cooperation and Sergio Getici, head of the trade union service of Federcoop. An idea of the people from Bologna was at issue: “to buy insurance”. M. Gabbiano, A.
