Linear (www.linear.it) was established in 1996 within the scope of a strategy to increase channel/product diversification.
Linear is in fact a Unipol Group company specialising in direct sales of car insurance policies over the telephone and Internet and, from 2005, multi-risk home insurance products as well. Over the years it has consolidated its role in this particular sector with a market share of 11.5% compared to its direct competitors in the Motor TPL insurance sector and more than 470,000 customers in December 2012.
With 446 employees on its books, the company saw the 2012 financial year close with premiums collected of €220m..
Its portfolio registered a net prevalence of Motor TPL insurance, followed by other branches also connected to car insurance (land vehicles-own damage, driver accidents insurance, roadside assistance). Non-car insurance policies made up slightly less than 1% of its portfolio.
The company’s development strategy targets individuals with good risk profiles and is centred on building up loyalty amongst its customers, who are offered highly personalised, quality products at contained prices.
Since 2007 Linear, which has completely updated its website, has offered a new way of communicating for those who are interested in taking out a policy. Directly via the site they can request information and opinions from other policyholders: a real and original way of getting users to talk to each other, without fear of being criticised, and confident of receiving good references from those who are already customers. Thus was born the Linear ‘tribù’ (‘tribe’).
